Welcome to the Karl Tyler Northern Division Freestyle Tour
What is Northern Division Freestyle?

The Northern Division Freestyle (NDF) is a nonprofit-based volunteer organization providing competitive freestyle venues throughout the state of Montana and Idaho, encouraging participants of all ages with emphasis on youth.

Northern Division Freestyle offers organized US Ski Association sanctioned events in all of the freestyle disciplines: Moguls, Dual Moguls, Upright and Inverted Aerials, Terrain Park events, Big Air events, and Half Pipe.

Competing in these Northern Division events is the first step for our Montana athletes towards a spot on the U.S. Freestyle Team and the U.S. Olympic Team.

The NDF Freestyle Programs:
Our region is split up among strong teams in several areas of the state. Big Mountain outside of Whitefish, Montana has one of the two inverted aerial training sites in the Montana, as well as terrain park features and a mogul program. Snowbowl in Missoula, Montana has also a A level aerial site as well as a successful mogul program. Lost Trail outside of Hamilton, Montana has a successful mogul program. Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, Montana has a mogul program as well as a Free Ride program.

The Northern Division Freestyle Tour has been involved in hosting these events since the early 1980’s. In 1996 we became a nonprofit corporation and in the years since have produced several U.S. Ski Team athletes in moguls, ESPN X-Games Champions as well as a Gold Medal Inverted Aerialist at the 1998 Olympics. Today NDF includes a steady 70-plus membership of male and female athletes ranging in age from 9-29.

In addition to the USSA Northern Division Freestyle Tour, members have competed at a national level at the U.S. Championships, U.S. Team Selection Events, and ESPN X-Games as well as the US Skiercross Grand Nationals. Several of our young athletes have also qualified and competed at the international level.
